Honduran Garifuna Activist, Mrs. Mirtha Colón Shares Garifuna Culture with Princeton University Students

Princeton, New Jersey – On Friday, December 8th 2023, The Spanish and Portuguese Department at Princeton University hosted a one of a kind event at their prestigious University.

On that day, Honduran Garifuna Activist and Social Worker, Mrs. Mirtha Colón was the Subject and Focus of a conference event there.

Details are scarce, but Princeton University students had an opportunity to engage with a flesh and blood representative of an ethnic group who they had previously read about on computer screens and smartphone screens.

According to the Princeton University website, students prepared for this event by coming up with questions in their target language of Spanish.

The Princeton University website doesn’t give much more information than that, but presumably, Mrs. Mirtha Colón was able to talk about Garifuna Culture and History with the students as they embarked on this Cultural Exchange.
