Brownsville, Brooklyn – The Garifuna Settlement Day Committee of Our Lady of Mercy Church will present a Memorial Mass for Bishop Lawrence Sydney Nicasio.

As noted above, This Memorial Mass will take place on SUNDAY, January 28th 2024 at 3pm at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Brownsville, Brooklyn.

Bishop Lawrence Nicasio was of Belizean Garifuna Heritage and passed away on New Year’s Day after battling Cancer.

Bishop Lawrence Nicasio presided over the Annual Garifuna Settlement Day Mass at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Brownsville, Brooklyn every November. Traveling all the way from Belize to do so.

I don’t know when he started presiding over that Mass but I first met and Photographed him in 2010, which is 14 Years ago.
