Internet World – The November 2023 through December 2023 Conversational Garifuna Language Course, the latest edition of this unique Class, will soon begin.

This 8 Week Garifuna Language course is scheduled to begin on WEDNESDAY, November 1st 2023.

This Garifuna Language Course, an ongoing engagement with people who want to learn to speak the Garifuna Language, is taught by Garifuna Language Teacher, Mr. Milton Guity Sr.

Classes will be conducted over the Zoom Application, letting people from all over the country and world participate as the application is a remote video conferencing application.

The course covers the Basics of having a conversation in the Garifuna Language. It includes constant oral and visual demonstration of Garifuna Vocabulary, Garifuna grammar and Garifuna Sentence Structure.

The Etymology (Breakdown of Origin of Garifuna Words) of Garifuna Vocabulary is included in this course. Explanations of aspects of the Garifuna Language often come with stories putting things into cultural context.

As people are less inclined to speak the Garifuna Language, courses like this, in a sense, help protect, preserve and promote the Garifuna Language. Especially since overall, we tend to defer to the languages of the dominant society like Spanish and English.

Please consider how RARE a course like this is. Other than listening to Garifuna Music, you can’t find many places to listen to proper pronunciation of Garifuna Words.

As of this time of publication, Google Translate does not offer the Garifuna Language for Translation or Oral Demonstration or Learning purposes.

The current edition of this Internet Conversational Garifuna Language Course consists of about a dozen students from across the United States of America (California, Texas, New York City, etc) and countries overseas like Germany and St. Vincent and The Grenadines.

We are a little past the Beginner stage, but people interested in learning to speak the Garifuna Language should contact the Garifuna Language Teacher, Mr. Milton Guity Sr to determine whether the class is appropriate for the student asking or whether he would need to set up another new class for Beginners. The course is $70 for the eight week course.

Mr. Milton Guity Sr is from Corozal, Honduras and has been teaching the Garifuna Language in New York City since 2009. He arrived in the United States of America in 1987.
