Los Angeles, California — Garifuna Community Organizer and also President of The New Horizon Investment Club of New York City, Mr. Jose Francisco Avila, gave a speech on Garifuna Development and Land at The Second Annual Garifuna Forum hosted by GAHFU (Garifuna American Heritage Foundation United) in 2006 at LA Southwest College.

GAHFU is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, California. They are headed by Cheryl Noralez from Belize and Rony Figueroa from Guatemala, who are now married.

According to the YouTube Description below the video, Mr. Avila spoke, “about the opportunity for investment that Garinagu who live abroad have in order to tap into the tourism industry in Honduras. He mentioned the threat that the big corporations pose because they are interested in buying the garifuna coastal land and building big hotels and resorts.”
