East New York, Brooklyn — Included here are a few photos from a Soccer Game at Linden Field (a.k.a. Gershwin Park) in the East New York section of Brooklyn, New York. I didn’t get the names of these Soccer Teams.

This Soccer Game took place on AUG 31, 2009. Photos from the outskirts of the game (and it’s festival-like atmosphere) are also included in the album.

I mostly grew up in this neighborhood (I attended George Gershwin Junior High School, which is adjacent to the field) and often went to this park on Sunday afternoons as a child. That’s when the soccer games took place and that is also where relatives of mine sold food (breads, etc) on the sidewalk just outside the field.

I never liked Soccer as a sport, but I acknowledge it’s place as a worldwide phenomenon and a place where athletic prowess and competitiveness played out on a weekly basis in the Summer.

.

I have these photos on a Photo Album on the Being Garifuna Facebook Page. I may transfer those photos to my Flckr account or something.
