Manhattan, New York — The New York City based Endangered Language Alliance non-profit organization is hosting Honduran Garifuna Children’s Book Author, Miss Cintia Bernardez as she makes a presentation about the value of using the Garifuna Language in Children’s Literature.

Miss Cintia Bernardez’s Garifuna Children’s Grammar WorkBooks.

.

Miss Cintia Bernardez is the author of 7 Children’s Books. Many of which are in the Garifuna Language. Some are in Spanish. She is also an Elementary Education Teacher in Honduras. I bought four of those books when I met her last September at The 2024 International Honduran Central American Independence Parade and Festival in the Bronx.

Miss Cintia Bernardez was Winner of the 2021 National Prize for The Early Literacy Network of the Caribbean and Central America and selected for the 100 Successful Afro Honduran Women List.

This event was organized by Celeste Escobar, Dectorate in the Linguistics Program Committee of Diversity and Inclusivity in The Graduate Center in CUNY.
