Bronx, New York — Garifuna non-profit organization, Casa Yurumein (a.k.a. Hondurans Against AIDS Inc), along with Asuncor, The Chief Joseph Chatoyer Garifuna Dance Company, Halaguela Wayunagu, as well as other local organizations present The 2025 Garifuna Tribute to the Ancestors.

This Annual Tribute takes place on SATURDAY, June 7th 2025 at Orchard Beach in the Bronx.

At this Annual Garifuna Gathering, Garinagu (plural for Garifuna) as well as non-Garifuna people get together to sing, dance, meditate, pray and in their own special way, think deeply about, acknowledge and celebrate our Ancestors.

Whether it be Deceased Relatives, Friends, Colleagues, etc, this event serves as an Occasion to remember loved ones who have transitioned as well as exercise cultural Ancestor Veneration habits.

Having taken place since 2014, this Annual Garifuna Tribute mirrors the Black American Tribute to the Ancestors that takes place on the Coney Island Boardwalk and Beach in Brooklyn.

That Tribute has taken place for over 30 Years and also takes place in June.

Participants are asked to wear white clothing, and to bring food as an offering to the Ancestors.

The 2025 Garifuna Tribute to the Ancestors will take place on SATURDAY Morning, June 7th 2025 at 8am and is scheduled to take place until about 4pm in the afternoon.

It will take place Rain or Shine. I am not aware of a Rain Date.
