Seattle, Washington – The Anichigu Luma Amenigini, (“Wisdom / Meaning / Culture / Intelligence With Confidence” in the Garifuna Language) Garifuna Women Non-profit Organization had a Grand Opening Celebration of their new Community Center and / or Headquarters in Seattle on SATURDAY, March 18th 2023.

The ALAGW Community Center also serves as a Pantry or Food Bank Distribution Center. Food was given out on MONDAY, March 20th 2023.

A festive time seemed to be had by all. With music, food and dancing.

ALAGW (Acronym for Anichigu Luma Amenigini Garifuna Women) is a non-profit organization registered with the state of Washington in 2019.

.

.

It was founded by several Garifuna women in the Seattle area whose stated mission is to raise the quality of life in Seattle, Washington, Honduras and Central America through education, community service, and partnerships to help obtain needed resources and provide opportunities for the community.

There is another Garífuna non-profit organization in Seattle. It is called Garinagu Houngua. They operate out of the Casa Latina Community Center in Seattle.

Garinagu Houngua was founded in 2013 or 2014 by Garinagu (Plural for Garífuna) in the Seattle area.
