Los Angeles, California: The Annual Los Angeles Garifuna Settlement Day Mass will take place on SATURDAY Morning, November 12th 2022 at 8:30am PST (Pacific Standard Time).

Organized by a select group of local, committed Garinagu, this Special Mass is designed to give Garinagu in the Los Angeles area an opportunity to worship and commemorate Garifuna Settlement Day, which is a Federal and Bank Holiday in Belize (November 19th). Belize is the ONLY country where that day is treated as such.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, this special mass did not take place in the Los Angeles area since 2019. The Pandemic forced the shutdown of similar Masses in cities throughout the country as Places of Worship were shut down.

This Garifuna Settlement Day Mass will take place at:

Garifuna Settlement Day celebrates the Arrival of Garinagu to their respective mother countries of Belize, Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua. November 19th is Garifuna Settlement Day in Belize and Nicaragua. November 26th is Garifuna Settlement Day in Guatemala. April 12th is the Celebration of the Arrival of Garinagu in Honduras/Central America, which took place in 1797.

Again, Belize is the only country where Garifuna Settlement Day is a Federal and Bank Holiday.
