Spanish Harlem, Manhattan – The Short Film featuring presumably a cast of mostly Garifuna Women, Madres Irresponsable, will be shown TODAY, Thursday, June 13th 2024 at The 2024 Latino Film Market Festival in Spanish Harlem.

.

.

Featuring a cast of presumably Garifuna Women in Honduras, this short film, Madres Irresponsable, puts these women in social and domestic situations that the public can relate to.

.

.

Here, the Drama consists of a woman (lady with the Yellow Shirt) objecting to her friends treatment of their children. Specifically not feeding the children and choosing to instead use their money to play Loteria.

.

.

.

I write presumably because the term Garifuna is not mentioned in any of the marketing material associated with this short film and the cast in this short film only speak Spanish. While they sure look Garifuna to me, I try not to assume.

.

The YouTube channel for Joven Al Punto is a relatively new one. I believe they started the YouTube channel in 2021. It’s early videos were Christian videos.

.

Perhaps these Youths are Evangelical Christians, who have made an impact within the Garifuna Community in recent years.

.

The screening of Madres Irresposable will take place TODAY, Thursday, June 13th 2024 at 5pm at:

Manhattan Neighborhood Network
