The Initiative, supported by noted Nicaragua Garifuna Activist and Businesswoman in Orinoco, Mrs. Kensy Eloisa Sambola Solis, aims to strengthen cultural identity through creative, dynamic training that includes music, language immersion, games and storytelling.
.
Mrs. Kensy Sambola Solis was quoted in a recent news article about the Initiative. She explained,
“It is vital that our new generations know and appropriate their mother tongue, because language is the soul of a people. This training does not only teach words or phrases, it fosters ethnic pride, rescues ancestral memory, and keeps alive a cultural heritage that has withstood marginalization for centuries.” — Mrs. Kensy Sambola Solis

There have been various Initiatives to teach the Garifuna Language in Nicaragua, where very few, relatively speaking, speak the Garifuna Language. Time will tell how much of an impact this Initiative will have.
