New York City, New York: A new course teaching the Garifuna Language is now available. People across the world interested in learning to speak the Garifuna Language now have the opportunity to do so.

Taught by Garifuna Language Teacher, Milton Güity Sr, this weekly course will go over the basics of Conversational Garifuna.

This Conversational Garifuna Language course will be taught over the INTERNET versus in person.

Why Is There An Internet Garifuna Language Course?
.
While this Bronx-based Garifuna Language course has been around for at least ten years on Saturday afternoons, the Coronavirus and Social Distancing mandates that have come up in it’s wake have forced the creation of an online Garifuna Language Course.

The first version of the course took place in the year 2020 and I am told that many students signed up for the course, which forced the formation of several different classes held over various nights of the week to accommodate them.

Previously, classes were held once a week on Saturday afternoons.

How Will This Garifuna Language Course be facilitated over the Internet?
.
Using the Zoom Video Conferencing application, students learn the Garifuna Language under the tutelage of Honduran Garifuna Language Teacher, Mr. Milton Güity Sr, who is from Corozal, Honduras.
.
Generally, the course material typically comes from the standard Garifuna Language book, “Conversemos en Garifuna” by Honduran Garifuna Linguist, Salvador Suazo.

Classes will be organized according to the Garifuna Language Level of the students (Beginner, Intermediate, etc).

People interested in attending this Garifuna Language course via Zoom are encouraged to call Mr. Güity at (646) 591-7095.

Classes will be held over video conference via the Zoom application, so having a desktop computer, laptop computer or smartphone with Internet access will be required to attend.
