..

Anadith Reyes Alvarez was the 8 Year Old Garifuna Migrant Girl who died while in the custody of The U.S. Border Patrol in May 2023 in Texas. The Investigation is ongoing but her parents accuse The United States Border Patrol of Negligence.

.

.

Anadith had Congenital Heart Disease and Sickle Cell Anemia and her Parents charge that The U.S. Border Patrol weren’t fully attentive to Anadith’s needs especially with regard to her medical issues. Her parents were trying to enter The United States seeking better medical treatment for their daughter.

.

Anadith’s parents are insisting on burying Anadith in the New York /New Jersey area because a lot of her relatives already live in the area.

.

.

There is more background information and video on the previous BEING GARIFUNA post on the matter. As this case is investigated, I can’t help but wonder, what are the rights of Migrants? What are the rights of illegal immigrants?

.

The system failed Anadith and failed her family. But what does the United States owe people looking to enter The United States?

.

The debate will continue to evolve and meanwhile Anadith suffered and paid the ultimate price for attempting to seek better treatment for her medical conditions.
