Bronx, NY: On Saturday, October 15th 2022, a man was shoved onto the train tracks at a Bronx Subway station in a seemingly unprovoked attack.

.

This news item is another in a series of attacks at Subway Stations in New York City. As well as representative of the growing number of crimes taking place here (and reported on) in New York City.

.

In the incident, a man is seen pacing back and forth on the platform of the East 149th Street Subway Station on the 6 Train line. Eventually, he hurries off-camera and reportedly shoved another man on the platform onto the train tracks.

I saw the name and photo of the victim, German Sabio, while reading about the crime and immediately wondered, is he a Garifuna? It’s what comes to mind whenever I see a Black looking person with a Spanish first and last name. I know a few Garifuna people with the last name Sabio. Ramirez also.

Good Samaritans lifted Mr. German Sabio back onto the subway platform before the 6 train rolled into the subway station. Reportedly, Mr. Sabio suffered minor injuries to his legs.

The attacker, Miguel Ramirez, 35 Years Old, was arrested a day or so later and charged with attempted murder, attempted assault and reckless endangerment.

.

I don’t know more about this incident other than what’s already been reported. However, I couldn’t help but wonder, upon learning the victim’s name, seeing him and listening to him speak, whether Mr. Sabio is Garifuna?
