Bronx, New York: The 2022 Barauda Awards were a showcase of select Women of Garifuna Heritage as their contributions and overall service to the community were highlighted and celebrated at this Annual Gala Event.

.

In this Annual Gala Event, Garifuna Women representing various Home Town Associations, Civic Organizations, Local Dance Companies, etc are honored and briefly share their stories of service to the community.

.

This year’s Barauda Awards featured performances by Garifuna Singers Felix Gamboa, Nino Arzu and Paula Castillo. In their own way, they serenaded these Women on their special night. It took place at the Grand Slam Banquet Hall in the Bronx on SUNDAY, November 6th 2022.

Brought to you by the non-profit organization, Hondurans Against AIDS Inc (a.k.a. Casa Yurumein), and led by Garifuna Activist, Social Worker and Exective Director/President of that non-profit organization, Mrs. Mirtha Colon, this Gala Event is a fixture on the Garifuna Social Scene in New York City. It’s also a dependable end of the year Fundraiser for that Non-Profit Organization.
