Bronx, New York – The Board of IHCAP, Inc (International Honduran and Central American Parade) has announced that Recently Retired Corporate Executive of Guatemalan Garifuna Heritage, Mr. Carlos Gamboa, will be one of the Honorees at their Fundraiser Gala on SATURDAY, August 24th 2024 in the Bronx.

Mr. Gamboa has also been named Parade Grand Marshal of The 2024 Central American Independence Parade and Festival in the Bronx, which takes place on SUNDAY, September 10th 2024.
Born in Livingston “Labuga” Izabal, Guatemala, Mr. Carlos Gamboa emigrated to The United States in 1967, following his mother Teresa Gamboa, who had arrived in 1963.

A second generation legal immigrant, he settled in New York City, home to the largest population of Garinagu (plural for Garifuna People) outside of Central America.

In New York City, his Mother and Uncle, Hector Melendez from Honduras, emphasized the importance of education as the key to Success in America.
.
A high achiever academically in the New York City Public School System, Mr. Gamboa graduated at the top of his High School Class of Brooklyn’s Clara Barton High School in 1978.
.
Mr. Gamboa then attended New York University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, as well as a Minor in Spanish Literature in 1983.

According to his Biography, Mr. Gamboa also undertook studies at Harvard University in Massachusetts in 1981.

Mr. Gamboa has had a 40 Year career as a Corporate Business Executive. Corporate Management, to be specific. He focused on:
- Process Improvement
- Cost Savings
- Technology Integration
- Service Implementation
for various Fortune 500 Companies.
Recently retired, Mr. Gamboa spent the past 20 Years with Canon Business Process Services, a division of Canon USA, where he provided national services to major clients like Citibank and Verizon.

During those 20 Years, Mr. Gamboa managed operations at nearly 100 sites across the country, leading a large team of Directors, Operations Managers, Area Managers, Supervisors and Employees, while contributing to generating over $250 Million in revenue.

Throughout his career, Mr. Gamboa has been recognized with numerous accolades, including President’s Award, Circle of Excellence, Top Leadership, Top Director, Best Client (The “Academy Awards” of the service industry), Top Service Provider, Community and Garifuna Masterpiece of Humanity, and other awards.

Beyond his Professional Accomplishments, Mr. Gamboa remains deeply committed to giving back to his family, Garinagu and Central American and charitable organizations.

Through Leadership, Mentoring and Philanthropy, he continuously offers his guidance and support to solve problems and implement strategic initiatives for various organizations.

It’s though his Mentoring Reputation and Talent for Photography that I have come to know of Mr. Gamboa. I have heard that over the years, he would take Youths to Museums and organize College Visit Trips to his Alma Mater, New York University.

From what I understand, Mr. Gamboa also arranged for Youths to attend Lectures and Other Events at New York University.

In January 2015, Mr. Gamboa also sponsored or organized a Town Hall Community Meeting and/or Lecture/Forum at Casa Yurumein in the Bronx with Noted Honduran Choreographer, Dancer and Artistic Director of The National Folkloric Dance Company for Honduras, Mr. Armando Crisanto Melendez.

Moreover, Mr. Gamboa has shared his expertise as a Master of Ceremonies, taught classes, and connected with the Spiritual Realm by honoring the Ancestors.
